Marathon entitled ‘SAY NO TO DRUGS, SAVE PUNJAB’

SRM CONVENT SCHOOL organised a marathon entitled ‘SAY NO TO DRUGS, SAVE PUNJAB’ against drugs on February 20, 2024. 80 students from Grade 6 to Grade 8 participated with a great zeal and enthusiasm. Excitement could be seen on their faces as they ran together from the school premises to Bhagat Singh Chownk, Ahmedgarh. The slogans on the posters created awareness among the public against drugs. They also informed the public about the ill effects of drug consumption in the society and gave a message of being united to overcome the same. The students pledged to contribute to keep spreading the message ‘SAY NO TO DRUGS’ in the Society. The Chairman of the school Shri Jawahar Lal Mittal and the Principal, Dr. Sheenam Samuel encouraged their efforts, saying it would help in disseminating the information concerning the health hazards of drug abuse.

Career Counselling Workshop by Ms Yogita, PCS (JMIC)

On December 18, 2023, Ms. Yogita, PCS (JMIC) an eminent personality of Ahmedgarh, conducted a session on career counselling and profile building for the students of Grade 6 to Grade 9 of SRM Convent School. The session was aimed at providing students with comprehensive career guidance and helping them build an action framework for their career aspirations. It was a highly interactive session with students being encouraged to ask questions and share their thoughts. She used a variety of career coaching tools to enrich the students’ experience in career exploration. SRM Convent School celebrated its Second Annual Sports Meet 2023-24 on December 2, amidst a great mirth and camaraderie. The Hon’ble Chief Guest S. Inderbir Singh (IPS), DIG, PAP, Jalandhar presided over the event.

Chairman Mr. Jawahar Lal Mittal and Principal Dr. Sheenam Samuel extended a floral and formal welcome to the Chief Guest and shared a brief report of the School’s Sports activities and achievements of students. The event was entailed by the hoisting of the School Flag and declaration of the Meet Open by the Chief Guest followed by the lighting of the lamp by the dignitaries and the light of the torch to mark the expression of joy and merriment. After the Oath ceremony, a well-synchronised March Past was done by the four Houses i.e. Newton House, Einstein House, Darwin House and Edison House. Many races like balloon race, chocolate race, sack race, back race, frog race, lemon and spoon race, jumping balls race, make a pyramid race, hurdle race, 200-meter race, 300-meter race, relay race, etc were held. In the subsequent Prize Distribution, the Winners of various events were given medals, trophies and certificates. Celebration of Shaheed Bhagat Singh Jayanti at SRM Convent School. Here are some glimpses of the Special Morning Assembly.

On September 9, 2023 a one-day Capacity Building Programme was conducted at SRM Convent School under the aegis of the Centre of Excellence, Chandigarh, CBSE.

The workshop, titled ‘NEP 2020’, was an important step towards creating an inclusive learning environment that meets the different needs of all students. Approximately 60 teachers from CBSE schools of Ludhiana participated in it. Eminent Educationists Ms. Ravinder Kaur, Principal, Satya Bharti Adarsh Sen. Sec. School, Ludhiana and Ms. Sharmila Nakra, Deputy Director, Innocent Hearts School, Jalandhar were resource persons. All the teachers were spellbound. The interactive session was marvellous as all teachers participated in it enthusiastically. Principal Dr. Sheenam Samuel appreciated the valuable contribution of resource persons to the cause of education and motivated teachers to work for a better future of the students.

Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam (Former President of India) used to say, “Teaching is a passion, and it requires immense dedication and patience to bring out the best in every student.”

To felicitate the hard work and dedication of teachers, Teacher’s Day was celebrated with great enthusiasm at SRM CONVENT SCHOOL on September 5, 2023. Grade 9 and Grade 8 students came in the attire of their favorite teacher and played the role of teachers by visiting the classrooms of their juniors. Students celebrated the occasion by expressing their gratitude towards their teachers by presenting them handmade cards and bouquets. On this special day for teachers, a get-together was organised by the management of the school. The teachers played many games and enjoyed a lot. They shared their experiences of their journey as a teacher. Dr. Surinder Pal Singh Associate Professor cum In Charge, Rural Health Training Centre, DMC & Hospital, Ludhiana, and his wife Dr. Amanjot Kaur, Consultant Dentistry, Rural Health Training Centre DMC & Hospital, Ludhiana were the Chief Guests. They congratulated everyone and wished them a Happy Teacher’s Day. The Chairman of the school, Mr. Jawahar Lal Mittal motivated the teachers to put in more efforts and make the future of the students brighter. The Principal of the school, Dr. Sheenam Samuel reminded the students of the tireless labour and love all the teachers put in to bring them up as dedicated and compassionate individuals.

SRM Convent School organised a week-long summer camp for the students of Grade 1 to Grade 9.

Maximum students participated in the camp. They got endless opportunities to get themselves engaged in various activities like Spoken English, Coding & Decoding, Cooking & Baking, Folk Dance, Western Dance, Art & Craft, Taekwondo, Shooting Range, Karaoke Singing etc. Students also enjoyed Splash Pool Party during Summer Camp. This Summer Exotica concluded on June 7, 2023 (Wednesday). Mr. Sanjeev Kumar Saini, Chief Mentor of the school said that the camp focused on fun, life skills and creativity. Principal Mrs. Sheenam Samuel said that such activities help children to develop their self-confidence and prepare them for the competitions ahead.

Investiture Ceremony 2023-24

SRM Convent School believes in growing leaders who shape the world. The investiture ceremony held on May 20, 2023 (Saturday) in the school premises. The ceremony was a proud moment for us as we witnessed our students taking on new leadership roles and responsibilities with enthusiasm and grace. 🌟 During the ceremony, our students were presented with their badges, sashes and certificates signifying their new roles as leaders of the school. They took an oath to uphold the values and traditions of the school and to serve the school and community with dedication and commitment. 🎓 Team SRM congratulated its new leaders and wished them for their future endeavours as the leaders.

Inter- House Quiz Contest (Preliminary Round) of SRMians..

Today (21/01/2023), the preliminary round of an Inter- house quiz contest was conducted in CCA from Grade 1 to Grade 8 at SRM Convent School. Students from all houses showed their active participation. 230 students participated in their respective houses. (Edison, Einstein, Darwin and Newton) The contest covered various aspects of General Knowledge like Current Affairs, EVS/General Science , Basic and Standard Mathematics etc. The energy and enthusiasm of the students brightened the preliminary round. Best Wishes to the finalists for the upcoming Final Round .👍🏻

Tour to Mashobra & Shimla

A child's heart not only seeks knowledge but also yearns for fun and frolic. Keeping in mind the overall development of the students, SRM Convent School organised an adventurous tour for 1 night and 2 days for the students of Grade 6, Grade 7 and Grade 8 to Mashobra and Shimla. The students and the accompanying teachers enjoyed the blissful sojourn in the campsite of Mashobra Greens. The tranquil ambience of the campsite coupled with its excellent service and mouth-watering cuisines made the stay a memorable experience for all. The Adventure Camp was indeed a lifetime experience as the Adventurous activities like Trekking Valley Crossing, Burma Bridge, Zip-line etc brought the students much-awaited fun and excitement. The spontaneous overflow of powerful emotions was conspicuously reflected as students sang to their heart’s glory around the bonfire in the evening. The students also got a chance to showcase their talent. On the second day, SRMians and teachers travelled to Shimla and visited the iconic Ridge, Mall Road & the historical Christ Church. They also got a glimpse of the local market at Mall Road & Lakkar Bazar & collected souvenirs of the hilly regions. The tour was a great opportunity to enhance the bond between the peers and the teachers. The students were thankful to the School Management & Principal Ma’am for organising this recreational cum adventurous tour.

Field Trip ''Kindergarten''

SRM Convent School gave an amazing experience to Kindergarten students on a field trip and organised a visit to ‘Namdhari Shaheedi Smarak’, Malerkotla on November 18, 2022. The students arrived full of eagerness and anticipation, ready to make the most of what promised to be a day filled with excitement and non-stop activity. Students were extremely excited and kept singing songs in the buses till they reached the venue. There was a lush green grass lawn where the students played many games. Every child was given an opportunity to participate and enjoy themselves. Lunch was fun in the lap of nature. Students were offered refreshments during the visit. All the students expressed a desire to revisit the place again. Indeed, it was a great day for all the students and teachers, as it strengthened the bond between the students and their teachers.

VISIT TO DISTRICT & SESSION COURT, SANGRUR

SRM Convent School organised an expedition to District & Session Court , Sangrur on November 15, 2022 (Tuesday) for Grade 6 students. It was organised by the school to aid the theoretical knowledge and the insightful experience of how the Law works in practice. The purpose of the visit was to understand the work of the courts and the nature of the services of the Judicial officers, to understand the role of the Courts in dispensing justice, the court proceedings, the role of the public prosecutor in criminal trials and how the defense lawyers handle the cases. After visiting the District & Session Court, Sangrur students proceeded to the Alternative Dispute Resolution Center, Sangrur where they were introduced to the Hon’ble Sh.Rajinder Singh Rai Ji, District and Session Court Judge, Sangrur. The students interacted with the Hon’ble Judge for an hour giving them the knowledge and experience shared by him. This was a highly educational visit for the students as they were exposed to the real courtroom scene and witnessed the proceedings, giving them the opportunity to understand how cases are issued and delivered in a pragmatic way of the legal profession. The Team of SRM Convent School always tries to awaken the quest for knowledge and learning in its students.

A Fun-Filled Day at MAPPLE JUNGLE CAMP & VIRASAT-E-KHALSA

"In every walk with nature one receives far more than he seeks." - John Muir. An adventurous trip was organised for students of Grade 3, Grade 4 & Grade 5 that witnessed their enthusiastic participation. Students of SRM Convent School brought out their excitement by participating in activities like Zip Line, Burma Bridge, Hanging Net, Hanging Tyres, Three Loop Bridge, Wall Climbing, Wall Repelling and much more. After a full long period of super busy adventurous time...students had some mouth-watering dishes of Indian and Chinese cuisine which were served as a lunch treat. Moreover, after spending a stupendous morning at the camp, students proceeded to Virasat-E-Khalsa which is a museum that represents Sikh history and is based on the scriptures written by the tenth Guru, Shree Guru Gobind Singh Ji. Such adventurous trips foster various life skills and prepare kids for tomorrow. Students felt rejuvenated & elated after the trip and came back with fond memories. Gratitude to parents for wholehearted cooperation in the Holistic development of the children.

A one-day trip was organised for students of Grade 1 and Grade 2. It was a moment of elated joy to see the students' glittery eyes and the charming faces. Students thoroughly enjoyed themselves. They got familiar with the Kingdom Animalia. Gratitude to parents for wholehearted cooperation in the integrated approach of the students.

Mission Hariyali 2022

Today, the Tree Plantation Ceremony was organized under Hariyali Mission 2022 at SRM Convent School. Guest of Honour, Respected Professor Jaswant Singh Gajjan Majra (MLA) Amargarh was present on this special occasion. He started the Hariyali Mission 2022 by planting trees in the school courtyard. On this occasion, SRM Convent School in association with Apna Punjab Foundation and Federation of Private School Association of Punjab planted more than 100 saplings. The main objective of Mission Hariyali 2022 is to plant more than five lakh saplings in a day and to create a World Record. Keeping in view the Environmental Protection, Respected Chairman of the School Mr. Jawahar Lal Mittal and Guest of Honour Professor Jaswant Singh Gajjan Majra stated that tree plantation is being done to provide a clean environment to the children who are the future of our Nation. Principal Mrs. Sheenam Samuel said that SRM Convent School will continue to do such activities in the future also.

Visit by foreign delegates

On August 9, 2022 our school had an opportunity to welcome foreign delegates of AIESEC. The Head Boy (Sarthak) and the Head Girl (Gun) welcomed the foreign delegates with Indian traditional culture. The school bubbled with enthusiasm when they curiously mingled with Indian tradition. The visit was part of SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT GOALS. During their visit, Carla Gallego (USA), Julia Faul (Germany), Amine Anagaa (Morocco) and Veronica Svaret (Spain) interacted with our students. A workshop was held on sustainable development goals with students of Grade 6 to Grade 8. It was a wonderful experience for our staff and students as well. Principal Mrs. Sheenam Samuel said that in future SRM Convent School will organize such kind of visits for our students to interact them in the universe in the field of education as well as with the culture of different countries. Magic Show

“Magic is believing in yourself, if you can do that, you can make anything happen.” Magic is something that is liked by all age groups, especially by the little kids. To provide some joyful and refreshing moments, a Magic Show was organized for the students of SRM Convent School on May 27, 2022. Students felt exhilarated to see several magic tricks presented by the magician, seemingly impossible for them to believe. The magician used natural and known objects to make the tricks real and interesting and involved the students also while performing them which proved to be a hands-on experience for them. On the whole, the show got a big thumbs up by the students. School Principal Mrs. Sheenam Samuel said, “Such activities serve as stress busters in the hectic school curriculum.”

Activity based learning

Addition is a way to put things together. When you add two amounts, you're counting them together, as one larger amount. Addition happens all the time in real life. Our Grade 1 students are learning 'Addition' by 'Regrouping Addition' method.

English Language Day

On April 23, 2022 SRM Convent School celebrated ‘English Language Day’ and ‘World Book Day’. A special assembly was conducted for the students of Grade1 to Grade 8. The celebrations were aimed to inform students about the history of the English language and the achievements of English writers, poets and playwrights. During the celebrations, students read their favourite books. Mrs. Sheenam Samuel the principal said the aim of the activity was to promote reading among students and also told students that the books are a storehouse of knowledge and wisdom.

'Blood Donation Awareness Rally''

'Blood Donation Awareness Rally' was organized by Hind Hospital, Ahmedgarh on March 3, 2022. Grade 5 students of SRM Convent School, Pohir, Ludhiana motivated people to donate blood by maintaining social distance with each other.

National Mathematics Day Celebrated

Mathematics is not about numbers, equations, computations and algorithms: It is about “UNDERSTANDING”. Math Quiz competition can inspire students for greater achievements. It challenges students to use their numeracy skills in new and creative ways. As a part of extended learning, Math Quiz Competition was conducted for the students of Grade 1 to Grade 7 on December 23, 2021. The quiz was presented by our school students in an interactive manner and the students participated enthusiastically and represented their respective houses. It commenced with the declaration of rules and regulations of the competition. The quiz comprised of three rounds- direct round, bonus round and buzzer round. Later on, medals and certificates were awarded to the winner students. It was altogether a fruitful event for all.

Martyrdom Day of Guru Teg Bahadur Ji

SRM Convent School, Pohir observed the martyrdom day of the Ninth Guru Shri Guru Teg Bahadur with great piousness and serenity. In the morning assembly the students were apprised about the life events of the Guru followed by melodious 'shabad gayan'. The school reverberated with the echo of 'Bole So Nihal' Sat Shri Akal'. Mrs. Parveen Rani, Punjabi Faculty urged the students to follow the teachings of Guru for paying him a real tribute.

Director Mr. Sumit Mittal and Principal Mrs. Sheenam Samuel extended a floral and formal welcome to the Guest and shared a brief report of the School’s Sports activities and achievements of students. This was entailed by the hoisting of School Flag and declaration of the Meet Open by Mr. Rajan Sharma, PPS, ACP Industrial area 'B' Ludhiana followed by the lighting of the lamp by the dignitaries and releasing of balloons, to mark the expression of joy and merriment. After Oth ceremony a well- synchronize March Past was done by the four Houses ie Newton House, Einstein House, Darwin House and Edison House. Kindergarten students presented welcome dance followed by Aerobics performance from Grade 1 to Grade 4 students. Many races like balloon race, chocolate race, Goggles and cap race, matka race, jumping balls race, umbrella race, hurdle race, 100 m, 200 m, relay race, short put etc were held. In the subsequent Prize Distribution, the Winners of various events were given medals, trophies and certificates. The Best Athlete Boy of the Middle Wing was Balkaran Singh of Grade 7 and the Best Athlete Girl was Veera Kaur Dhaliwal of Grade 6 . The Darwin House and Einstein House were adjudged the Best Houses in the overall sports events. The zealous parents, gathered in large numbers, constantly applauded the participants of the Field track displays. In the Closing Ceremony, the Meet was declared closed and the School Flag was handed over to the Principal. The whole programme was co-ordinated by Mr. Jatinder Pal Singh sports Incharge and the event was closed with the National Anthem.

Trip

SRM Convent School, Pohir organised one day trip on November 27, 2021 to Mapple Jungle Camp, Virasat - E- Khalsa and Shri Anandpur Sahib ji. Students of Grade 4 to Grade 7 had an invigorating time at a place located in the midst of lush green mountains. The camp offers a wide range of activities like zip line, wall climbing, rope bridge, Burma bridge, commando net, etc. Students visited Virasat-E- Khalsa , the pioneer museum depicting Punjab culture and Sikh history. Next, the students were taken to the Gurudwara Shri Anandpur Sahib ji. The main purpose of the visit was to accustom the students to start praying at an early age, seek blessings of the Almighty and acquaint them with the significance of these holy places. Students visited Gurudwara Sahib with covered head, joined hands and bowed down with respect in front of reserved Shri Guru Granth Sahib Ji. They all knelt down to take the blessings of God and ate ‘Prashaad’ and ‘Langar’ after the visit. Director of the school Mr. Sumit Mittal said ‘We are the most responsible and important members of the society because our professional efforts effect the fate of the Country’. The Team SRM Convent School tries to make teaching learning process a harmonious journey so that the child’s fundamental abilities are nurtured and shaped. Happy Gurupurab

Guru Nanak Jayanti is celebrated to mark the birth of Guru Nanak Sahib and is celebrated with great zeal in India. SRM Convent School, Pohir, celebrated Gurpurab in the School with great excitement. The programme started with recital of mool mantra ‘Ek Omkar’ by kindergarten. A serene and calm atmosphere was created by the soothing 'Shabad', sung by the senior students. The students and teachers apprised about the principles and teachings of the pious soul; Shri Guru Nanak Dev JI. Special Assembly was organized by the students. Chairman of the school Mr. Jawahar Mittal, conveyed their warm wishes to the students and their families. Principal Mrs. Sheenam Samuel, appreciated the efforts put in by the children & teachers and gave the message of universal brotherhood, help to other etc.

Visit to Sri Muktsar Sahib

SRM Convent School, Pohir organized an expedition for Court Visit to the Session House, District and Sessions Court, Gurudwara Sri Tutti Gandhi Sahib and Mukte Minar at Shri Muktsar Sahib on November 16, 2021 Tuesday i.e. for Grade 6 and Grade 7 students. It was organized by the school to aid the theoretical knowledge gained by the students with the insightful experience of how the Law works in practice. The purpose of the visit was to understand the work of the court and the nature of the services of the judicial officers. Investiture Ceremony is not just about providing titles, but about conferring responsibilities to the students, to take charge of the school and take it to the height they desire with their leadership and decision making skills, communication and teamwork. At this ceremony, a school prefectorial board is formed after scrutinous interviewing and selection which gives them a feel of functioning of an official administrative body. The selected students are honoured with their respective sachets such as Head Girl, Head Boy, House Captains, Vice Captains of house, Prefects and Discipline In Charges take an oath to faithfully work for the school. Chairman of the school Mr. Jawahar Mittal, Principal Mrs Sheenam Samuel encourage them to put in honest efforts for every endeavor and become an inspiration for others. Balkaran Singh and Gurleen Kaur of Grade 7 were selected as Head Boy and Head Girl of the School. In Darwin House Sahib Kaur Aulakh of Grade 7 (Captain), Daksh Singla of Grade 5 (Vice Captain), Harshal Cheema of Grade 7 (Prefect) and Vansh Jindal of Grade 5 (Discipline In Charge) were selected. In Edison House Mehakpreet Kaur Cheema of Grade 6 (Captain), Harji Verma of Grade 5 (Vice Captain), Tisha Mittal of Grade 5 (Prefect) and Swastik Dongre of Grade 5 (Discipline In Charge) were selected. CHILDREN’S DAY CELEBRATION

“Every child is a different kind of flower and all together makes this world a beautiful garden.” November 14 is celebrated as Children’s Day or Bal Diwas every year in India. The special day is celebrated in remembrance of India’s first Prime Minister Jawahar Lal Nehru, born on November 14, 1889, he was also known as Pandit Nehru. Nehru, who was fondly called Chacha Nehru or simply Chachaji, was very popular amongst children for his love. November 14 marks Nehru’s devotion to welfare, education and development of children and young people. A day marking childhood ,and to make this event a memorable for our beloved students, SRM Convent School , Pohir, Ludhiana celebrated Children’s Day on 11 November 2021 in the school premises. The day focused on children and their enjoyment. The day commemorated with immense joy , enthusiasm and magnificence. The tiny tots of Kindergarten , Primary and Middle School students came dressed up in casual clothes and brought their favourite snacks and lunch. The celebrations began with the Morning Prayer, followed by role play of teachers. All the children were given chocolates as a token of love. The students were overwhelmed and enjoyed the day.

Grand Diwali Fete 2021

To mark Diwali, Grand Diwali Fete, held by SRM Convent School, Pohir, organised at SRM Convent School, Pohir on October 30, 2021. The fete witnessed a huge enthusiasm. S. Inderbir Singh (IPS), DIG Ferozepur Range was the Chief Guest for the day. Management, Principal, Faculty, Staff , Parents, Students and stuff of surroundings joined the festivities. Fete was inaugurated by lighting of lamp and welcome dance was performed by the students of SRM Convent School. Senior students performed Bhangra. The school campus bursted with essence and exuberance of Diwali. Many games stalls and eatable stalls were the attraction. Addressing the audience, Chairman of the school Mr. Jawahar Mittal said such joint celebrations not only provided a platform to students to unfold their inherent talent but were also an opportunity to get exposure to the culture and traditions of the secular society of India. He extended his best wishes to students and staff on Diwali. Mr. Sanjeev Saini Chief Mentor of the school greet participants with certificates and best wishes.

Happy Teacher's Day

In India, Teachers' Day is celebrated annually on September 5 to mark the birthday of the country's former President, scholar, philosopher and Bharat Ratna awardee, Dr Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan, who was born on this day in 1888.To celebrate this occasion, students of SRM Convent School performed songs and plays, acknowledging the contribution of their teachers in special assembly. Students also shown their affection to their favourite teachers in the form of hand made cards, speeches and role play of their role model teacher. SRM Convent School teachers had a great get together. Chairman of the school Mr. Jawahar Mittal, Director of the school Mr. Tarun Mittal and Principal of the School Mrs. Sheenam Samuel wished all SRM Convent School, Pohir teachers 'Happy Teachers Day' and appreciated their tireless effort in providing education to all students.

International Labour Day Celebration

International Labour Day celebrated at SRM Convent School, Pohir with helping staff with all safety measures. The Management and faculty expressed gratitude by giving thank you cards , sweets and gifts to helping staff. They were overwhelmed by this act of thankfulness and enjoyed the day.

Earth Day Celebration

April 22, 2021 marks the 51st anniversary of Earth Day. The theme for Earth Day 2021 is Restore Our Earth and it features five pillars, one of which is providing students with high-quality education to advance climate and environmental literacy. SRM Convent School, Pohir celebrated Earth Day and was a great time to plan fun, educational, and action-oriented online activities. Celebrating Earth Day on or around April 22 can be a great way for schools to showcase online classroom environmental education, highlight efforts to "green" the school facility, or engage the whole school community in making a difference.
